Intelligent or smart? What’s the difference? Checking several dictionaries/several languages will bring some light, but the spoken language gives new meanings to the words we use and changes quicker than “flexibility” of linguists and dictionary publishing field.

However, these two words are “in circulation” for decades already, and we intuitively feel their different meanings: how many times didn’t you meet a scientist or an academic, or even a good teacher… with no sense of humor, or dressed so poorly that makes you cringe?!

In this little series I’ll try to shed some light on this “duo”, and to eliminate as well the confusion between personal intelligence, and all other kinds of intelligence, and personality.

I’m a teacher, I’ve studied these concepts, used them in my profession… saw their “dynamics” in both kids and adults, and yes, read articles or watched documentaries on the web written by freelancers or journalists or even psychologists, all living mostly in their “professional bubble”… I shall not say there aren’t good writers or experts in this field, on the contrary, there are many, and I’ll list them at the end of each post.

Now bottom line: to express myself in a “lady like” way, I’ll only say “there is a lot of misinformation on the market” that “sounds easy and attractive”. Don’t fall for that! Reasoning and learning have always required a bit of effort and patience, and you’ll never be done with them if you want to “upgrade yourself” in this lifetime!
